Barbie: Amy Schumer May Star in Live-Action Movie

Early negotiations underway.

Sony's live-action Barbie movie may have found its leading lady in Amy Schumer.

According to Variety, Schumer is in "early talks" to star in the film, with both her and her sister, Kim Caramele, expected to rewrite the screenplay. The actress wrote and starred in last year's romantic comedy Trainwreck.

The concept for Sony's live-action take on the iconic doll was crafted by Hilary Winston, who wrote the original screenplay. The movie is said to be similar in style to films like Enchanted, Splash, and Big, and will tell the story of someone ostracized from Barbieland for not being perfect.

Sony Pictures announced a partnership with Mattel to make a live-action Barbie film in 2014. The movie is now on track to hit theaters sometime in 2018.
