Showtime is giving its subscribers a late holiday gift: the Season 6 premiere of Homeland is available to watch early starting today, December 30. That's more than two weeks before its on-air debut on January 15.
Homeland's new episode is available to Showtime subscribers on its streaming services Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime. For those who aren't currently subscribers, the network has a seven-day free trial available on its website.
Claire Danes stars as Carrie Mathison on Homeland
Season 6 of Homeland picks up several months after the thwarted Berlin terrorist attack that closed out Season 5 with Carrie Mathison back on U.S. soil, living in New York. According to Showtime, Season 6 "will tackle the after effects of the U.S. presidential election, with the entire season taking place between election day and the inauguration. It’s a strange, transitional time in the halls of government filled with anxiety and different competing interests, where a very fragile and complex transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect."
Considering Season 6 officially premieres Sunday, January 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, five days before 2017's Inauguration Day, that plotline will be especially timely as it parallels America's own transition of power. Homeland's president-elect will be played by House of Cards' Elizabeth Marvel.
