Here are IGN's nominees for Best Animated Movie of 2016. We'll announce our winner in January, but our opinion isn't the only one that matters - cast your vote in the poll below to help decide the IGN People's Choice winner!
From IGN's Review: Finding Dory deftly manages to breathe new life into Pixar's most popular fish, while also introducing a school of lively newcomers as well. In the same way that Monsters University added more depth to its colorful characters, so too does Finding Dory -- perhaps even more so -- and it's a testament to Andrew Stanton and team that this underwater world feels just as dynamic as it did back in 2003.
From IGN's Review: Long Way North spins a fantastical yarn with beautiful visuals, upbeat storytelling and a strong female lead -- not to mention a great voice cast and score by Jonathan Morali. While perhaps not as mainstream as your typical animated film, Rémi Chayé's period piece never feels pretentious nor pandering to children, and finds a happy medium for all ages. If you're looking for something a little different but still accessible and sweet, look no further than Long Way North.
From IGN's Review: Moana is another great addition to the Disney animated pantheon, starting with its inspiring lead character. The film delivers the strong humor, well-executed action, memorable music and lovable characters Disney has perfected in a delightful and lovely manner.
From IGN's Review: Sausage Party is an equal opportunity offender, but if you can stomach that you’ll find a movie with a lot of heart and big ideas to ponder. The film’s heady, theological quest is off-set by plenty of sexual innuendo (and outright near X-rated gags) and crude humor at the expense of every ethnic and racial stereotype imaginable.
From IGN's Review: Zootopia is a wonderful example of how Disney, at its best, can mix its past and present together in a very cool, compelling way. It takes the classic animation trope of animals walking, talking and acting like humans, but gives it a modern spin both in terms of its humor and animation style -- while deftly showing how computer generated animation is able to look more fluid and lifelike than ever -- and also in its themes, which are meaningful and fascinatingly topical. It’s one of those movies that truly is able to entertain audiences of all ages, in different ways, and another big accomplishment in the Disney oeuvre.
