Mega Man Animated Series Will Introduce New Alter-Ego

Just a normal schoolboy robot.

Dentsu Entertainment and DHX Media's upcoming Mega Man animated series will focus on Aki Light — a regular, everyday kid who also happens to be schoolboy robot.

Besides living his "normal, upbeat" life, Aki has the ability to transform into Mega Man's iconic armor, complete with the Mega Buster arm cannon and helmet. Familiar characters -- like Mega Man's adorable robotic dog, Rush -- will be a part of the series, and new characters, like Mega Mini, will make their debut.

IGN has an exclusive image reveal of Mega Man with Mega Mini you can check out below.

Mega Man will debut in 2017, to coincide with Mega Man's 30th anniversary. The cartoon's team is aimed primarily at a young audience, ages six to nine, but hopes video game–loving parents will tune in as well.

Dentsu Entertainment and DHX Media are working in collaboration with Man of Action Entertainment -- the creators behind the Ben 10 franchise and Marvel's Big Hero 6 characters -- to bring Mega Man back to life.

"The best thing about Mega Man is his unflinching wide-eyed optimism and an over-the-top sense of humor," Duncan Rouleau of Man of Action said in a statement. "This show reflects both qualities. We've got it all in there, it's hopeful, forward-leaning, action-packed... it's full on fun ahead."
