Star Wars: Rogue One Rumored to Do Reshoots in July

Studio brass worried about New Hope prequel?

A new report claims Disney brass are "not fully satisfied" with director Gareth Edwards' current cut of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and have ordered the production to commence "four weeks of expensive reshoots in July."

The New York Post's Page Six purports Disney is "in a panic over" Rogue One, citing an unnamed "insider" who claims "‘'Rogue One has fallen short of what J.J. Abrams did with Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens. So Disney has ordered reshoots.'"

An unnamed Disney source for Page Six told the outlet: "The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off The Force Awakens, there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

It should be noted that reshoots are a common part of almost every major movie and don't in and of themselves indicate a major problem with the film. Reshoots have been done on past Star Wars films, most notably on the prequels.

IGN reached out to Diisney and Lucasfilm for comment, but had not received a response at time of publish.
