Sony Posts New No Man's Sky Release Date

Later, but not too much later.

Sony posted a new release date for upcoming sci-fi exploration game No Man's Sky. The new release date, as listed on the PlayStation site, is August 9, 2016.

The post all but confirms the validity of rumors earlier in the week claiming No Man's Sky was being delayed from its initial release date of June 21.

Way back at E3 2014, Sony announced the procedurally generated space game was coming to PlayStation 4. In March, the June 21 release date for No Man's Sky was originally announced.

Sony hasn't formally announced a delay or the new release date quite yet, but sources close to Kotaku revealed the delay was coming. Employees at GameStop locations had been reportedly instructed to cover up the June 21 date in promotional materials with a "coming soon" label.

Sean Murray, the mind behind the ambitious game, sat down with us recently to discuss No Man's Sky on IGN Unfiltered. Murray spoke on such topics as the VR potential of No Man's Sky, meeting Elon Musk and Steven Spielberg, and more.
