Developer Says it Is Making a VR Xbox One Game

Reports and rumors are coming thick and fast.

It looks as though Xbox One will indeed be going virtual reality-compatible soon.

Ars Technica reports it has received word from at least one major developer making a virtual reality game on Xbox One for release in 2017.

Ars was told directly by the developer as part of E3 preparations, and the comments were backed up by a PR representative.

Earlier this week, several reports emerged indicating that Microsoft will be releasing a more powerful Xbox One - codenamed Scorpio - in 2017. Scorpio will apparently be powerful enough to run intensive VR games. Today's report would seem to back up this story.

The developer in question has not been revealed, but it is a "well-known European studio" planning a game in an "established, long-running franchise." The game will also be released on PC and PS4.

There were also rumors that Microsoft is looking to partner with Oculus, and that Scorpio could be four times as powerful as the current Xbox One. Oculus has partnered with Microsoft before - last year it announced that all Rift headsets would ship with an Xbox One controller.

In addition, rumours suggest we might be seeing a smaller version of the Xbox One releasing this year.

Sony is also apparently going to be releasing new hardware. The PlayStation Neo will have an improved GPU, and a recent report said the new release is coming because PlayStation VR was "going to be terrible" on current hardware.
