How To Use Pokemon Refresh in Sun and Moon

Pokemon Refresh is a new feature in Pokemon Sun and Moon that shares some similarities of Pokemon Amie from Pokemon X and Y.

It's important to know that Pokemon Refresh does not affect a Pokemon's Happiness levels.

You can access Pokemon Refresh from the menu or by choosing the Pokemon Refresh option on the touch screen directly after a battle. Along with feeding and petting your Pokemon, you can use Pokemon Refresh to heal your Pokemon of all Status Conditions. Pokemon Refresh is also used to clean or dry your Pokemon after battle. 

Interacting with a Pokemon in Pokemon Refresh affects three different "stats": 

• Fullness
  A Pokemon's fullness goes up when it's fed Poke Beans, items that can be acquired via Poke Pelago or at Cafes. If a Pokemon is completely full, it will refuse to eat more Poke Beans. It will eat more after some time has passed, causing its fullness to decrease. 
• Enjoyment 
  This indicates how many times you've interacted with the Pokemon in Pokemon Refresh, and will decrease over time. 
• Affection
  Feeding Pokemon, interacting with them and petting them all increase a Pokemon's Affection, the most important of the three stats that permanently remains full unless it's traded away. Rainbow Poke Beans and Special Poke Beans significantly increase Affection.

Affection is important because it can cause a variety of beneficial effects while in battle!

Affection	Effects
Two Hearts	Pokemon gain 20% more experience and receive personalized messages in between turns in battle.
Three Hearts	The Pokemon has a chance of holding on with 1 HP if hit by something that would have knocked it out. Effect has a higher chance of occuring the more affectionate the Pokemon is. Your character will say different messages when it's switched into battle.
Four Hearts	To not disappoint you, the Pokemon will evade attacks more often and cure itself of Status Conditions. Sometimes it will look at you at the start of battle.
Five Hearts	Pokemon will achieve Critical Hits more often.
