Former Star Trek Discovery showrunner Bryan Fuller is no longer involved with the CBS All Access series.
In October, CBS confirmed that Fuller had taken a step back from the revived Trek series due to scheduling issues. But now, while speaking with Newsweek, Fuller has stated that he's not working on Star Trek Discovery in any capacity anymore. He still has an executive producer credit, though, and he wrote the story arc for the inaugural season as well as the first two episodes.
"I’m not involved in production, or postproduction, so I can only give them the material I’ve given them and hope that it is helpful for them," Fuller said. "I’m curious to see what they do with it."
Fuller's other commitments include the series American Gods. “Ultimately, with my responsibilities [elsewhere], I could not do what CBS needed to have done in the time they needed it done for Star Trek," he said.
CBS previously announced he would stay involved with the new Star Trek show, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Star Trek Discovery is set to premiere in May. Michelle Yeoh will co-star in the series as Captain Georgiou, and she'll be joined by Doug Jones as Lt. Saru and Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets. There's no word yet on who will play the main character of the series, a Lt. Commander called Number One.
