Nintendo has announced a special "Samus Edition" New 3DS XL system, which will launch alongside Metroid: Samus Returns on September 15.
The limited edition system, priced at $200 USD, doesn't include a copy of the aforementioned 3DS game. Check out the images below to see its stylish design, which features a color scheme reminiscent of the Samus' iconic suit:
Metroid: Samus Returns is a re-imagining of Metroid II: Return of Samus, which was released for the original Game Boy in 1991. The game features amiibo support for two brand new amiibo, as well the Samus Aran and Zero Suit Samus amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. line. In fact, you'll need the new squishy Metroid amiibo in order to unlock the game's "Fusion" difficulty mode.
While you patiently wait for the release of developer MercurySteam's side-scrolling action platformer, read our Metroid: Samus Returns hands-on impressions from San Diego Comic-Con to find out why the game could very well be a worthy followup to Metroid: Zero Mission.
