Coen Bros Partner with Netflix for Western Anthology Series

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will premiere in 2018.

Netflix has announced it's partnered with the Coen brothers to debut their new Western anthology series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs in 2018.

As previously announced, Joel and Ethan Coen are writing and directing the six-part miniseries, which is being produced by Annapurna Television.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will star Tim Blake Nelson as Buster, and feature six tales set in the American frontier, with each installment covering a separate story about the West.

"The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers, and colorful linguists. We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents," Netflix original content VP Cindy Holland said.

Joel and Ethan Coen, as well as their longtime collaborator Robert Graf are executive producing the series, alongside Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle from Annapurna Television. The Coen brothers' prior work includes No Country for Old Men, True Grit, The Big Lebowski and Fargo. They also serve as executive producers on the FX television series Fargo.
