Daniel Craig will indeed return as 007 in James Bond 25, according to Showtime CEO David Nevins.
According to /Film, Nevis confirmed Craig's involvement at the TCA press tour when explaining why the upcoming Showtime series Purity, which will star Craig, has been delayed, saying "He's doing Bond first."
Nevis added: "I can't say anything about what I know or don't know about Bond. That's not my area." However, he went on to note that "it's possible" Craig may not be available to film Purity until 2019 because of scheduling conflicts with Bond 25.
While there have been reports that Craig's return for Bond 25 is a "done deal," this is the first time an industry person has said on the record that Craig will indeed reprise his role as 007.
According to Nevis, the actor is still committed to Purity, a two 10-episode season series based on Jonathan Franzen's novel of the same name. While Craig isn't playing the main role, he's expected to appear in "most" of the episodes.
James Bond 25 will be released on November 8, 2019. A director has yet to be attached to the project, but Yann Demange is reportedly MGM and Eon Productions' top choice.
