Wayward Pines: Season 3 in Early Discussions for FOX

M. Night Shyamalan is pitching a new seasons.

Wayward Pines isn't fully dead at FOX, despite it being off the air for more than a year.

At the 2017 summer TV Critics' Association press tour, FOX President of Entertainment David Madden said he and FOX Television Group CEO Dana Walden will be meeting with M. Night Shyamalan soon to discuss an idea for Season 3.

"Night has talked to both Dana and myself recently about what a third season could be," said Madden. Once they have that meeting, it will be determined whether Wayward Pines will return: "We haven't made any kind of decision yet," Madden continued.

Wayward Pines debuted on FOX in May 2015 with the promise of an M. Night Shyamalan-styled mystery for the small screen. The second season was a bit of a fresh start for the series, though riddled with Easter eggs to Season 1. It's unclear if Season 3 will follow a similar reboot.

Season 1 averaged 7 million total viewers per episode across all platforms, and averaged a 1.1 rating per episode in the 18-49 age demographic. Season 2 averaged about 4.3 million total viewers per episode across all platforms, and a 0.7 rating.
