Riz Ahmed is currently in talks to star in Sony's upcoming Venom movie.
While Ahmed's potential role is not yet known, Variety reports he's in negotiations to play a "popular Marvel Comics character." The Hollywood Reporter has heard the role isn't Carnage, though he was allegedly considered for the part before the script was changed.
In addition to starring in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Ahmed's acting credits including last year's Jason Bourne movie and the HBO mini-series The Night Of. While Ahmed reportedly won't be playing Carnage, the character will reportedly serve as the film's villain.
Venom will open in theaters on October 5, 2018 and star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer will direct the horror film, with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg writing the script. According to producer Amy Pascal, Venom will be separate from the MCU.
