Batman: Creature of the Night Explores Real-Life Tragedy and Grief

The first issues will be released in stores on November 29.

Batman: Creature of the Night, on sale in November, delves into the real-life tragedy and grief of losing your parents.

According to DC Comics, Creature of the Night is a four-issue limited series written by Kurt Busiek (Astro City) and drawn by John Paul Leon (Mother Panic), and it tells the story of an orphaned boy who goes through a similar tragedy to Bruce Wayne's.

Set in in Boston in 1968, this miniseries follows the comic book-reading and Batman super fan Bruce Wainwright, whose parents are suddenly murdered during a robbery. Wainwright must find a way to confront his inner demons in a world where superheroes aren't there to save the day.

However, during Wainwright's time of grief a crimefighter, who looks quite identical to the Dark Knight, suddenly appears on the streets of Chicago.

Batman: Creature of the Night is billed as a spiritual companion to Busiek's 2004 limited series, Superman: Secret Identity, which also offers a real-world analog to a famous superhero.

The first issue will be released in stores on November 29 and is priced at $5.99.
