Avengers 4 has officially started filming, marking the beginning of the end for this ten-year story arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directors Anthony and Joe Russo posted a mysterious image on Facebook announcing the start of production, writing "beginning the end." The teaser image shows off a glove with four fingers extended. No word on who's wearing that glove or to whom it might belong. Check it out below:
Avengers 4, which has yet to receive an official title, opens in theaters on May 3, 2019. It follows Avengers: Infinity War, which hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana may have let slip the name for Avengers 4 earlier this year.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously confirmed Spider-Man will show up in Avengers 4 in some capacity, and that the Homecoming sequel will be the start of the MCU's fourth Phase, which is said to be "very, very different" from what has come before in the MCU.
