Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is less than a month away, so we thought we'd express some of our excitement by sharing one of the best cosplays from the franchise.
Warren Goodwin is a cosplayer from New Zealand, and he makes one hell of a Rocket Raccoon. Check out the images below:
It took Warren around three months to make the full costume, including days where he'd have to wake up at around 3am just to work on it before heading to his actual job.
The build was first made for a cosplay competition, but now, Warren has a huge focus on attending charity events as Rocket Raccoon, in part because he himself grew up with autism.
He told IGN, "The cosplay is battered and has had a lot of use, not just at cons, but in community and charity events. It's fraying and falling apart, but it still has so much life in it."
He has attended events for children's hospitals, cancer fundraisers, fun events for special needs kids and, more recently, suicide prevention and awareness.
Charity work is apparently a huge part of the cosplay culture in New Zealand, with Warren saying, "It gives us a sense of spreading joy and smiles to so many different issues that Kiwis [people from New Zealand] face."
"I love my diverse cosplay family here in New Zealand. We are a country that can bring forth amazing things in cosplay, no matter what our body types, abilities or age, or whether we buy or make our cosplay. It's about playing the characters we love."
While Warren did make his own giant Groot prop, we sure would love to see him get together with HurleyFX's epic Groot cosplay that we featured last year:
Alanah Pearce is an editor at IGN, but she's a cosplayer, too! You can find her cosplays on Facebook.
