Halo Wars 2 DLC Delayed to Fix "Game-Breaking" Bug

"...whole lot of salt from players on the receiving end".

343 Industries has revealed that a "game-breaking" bug is responsible for the delayed release of the new Colony DLC for Halo Wars 2.

Originally slated for release earlier this month, Colony - a new army leader based on Halo's Hunters - has still not seen an appearance due to a crippling bug which revolved around new Skitterer units. These Skitterers can be attached to friendly units and act as an auto-targeting turret - unfortunately the bug meant that, once locked on, Skitterers could continue firing at enemies despite range and line of sight, meaning they could fire from across the map.

Developers realised that this bug would become "... a cheap exploit that would immediately result in some really bad game experiences and [a] whole lot of salt from players on the receiving end."

Rather than release the DLC on time but broken, 343 resolved to fix the bug first, saying that "As much as we hate to let down players and fall through on a promise, holding the DLC to make sure these issues get addressed is the right, albeit painful, call to make."

A full run down of this delay and other Halo Wars 2 news can be found on the latest Halo Waypoint blogpost.

This delay means that the current ranked season will continue over the weekend while the Colony DLC is now on track to release next week. It will feature two new achievements and eight new Blitz Cards.

Halo Wars 2 scored a 7.0 upon release - we said "will scratch a real-time strategy itch and give you a dose of Halo-Universe flavor with a decent story, but it won’t go much deeper than that".
