Doctor Strange Director to Helm Locke and Key Pilot

No release date has been set yet.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson will helm the pilot for Hulu's TV adaptation of the graphic novel series Locke & Key.

Derrickson made the announcement on Twitter, though he didn't reveal when the hour-long pilot might be released if at all. However, Derrickson will be working closely with Locke & Key creator Joe Hill, who's scripting the pilot for the show and will serve as an executive producer on the project, and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel, Lost).

IGN has reached out to Hulu for more information about the pilot and will update this story should they respond.

Locke & Key graphic novel series.

This Locke & Key series was first announced last year when there was still no network or streaming service attached. Fox originally passed on a Locke & Key series in 2011, though IGN still got the chance to check out and review the pilot at a public screening at San Diego Comic-Con before the series was canned. Universal was also interested in developing a film adaptation, but that project was canceled too.

Locke & Key, which has sold over a million copies worldwide, is a horror/fantasy series that follows the story of three siblings who discover magical keys in their new home in Maine which grant them powers. However, the siblings soon find themselves in danger when they discover a demon wants to acquire those same keys at any cost.
