Jeremy Renner apparently won't be involved in Ant-Man and the Wasp after all, as director Peyton Reed has come forward shoot down rumors of his involvement.
A few days ago, it was reported that Renner won't reprise his role as William Brandt in Mission: Impossible 6, but will make an appearance as Hawkeye in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Reed has since taken to Twitter to address this report, saying, "the Russians are swarm-tweeting that Hawkeye is in Ant-Man and the Wasp. #FakeNews."
Last year, Renner admitted he wasn't particularly fond of how Hawkeye was handled in Marvel's first Avengers film, and, at the time, wanted his character killed off. Having had the opportunity to do more as the sharpshooting hero in subsequent MCU films, he no longer feels that way, and "can’t wait to explore him more."
