Sony's upcoming Venom movie is reportedly close to casting an Oscar-nominated actress for a lead role opposite Tom Hardy.
Variety reports Michelle Williams, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for her role in Manchester by the Sea, is in talks to star in an unnamed role. Williams would play a district attorney and quite possibly Eddie Brock's (Hardy) love interest.

Sony had no comment on the casting reports.
Venom will open in theaters on October 5, 2018, with production set to begin next month. Along with Hardy and Williams, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Riz Ahmed has also reportedly joined the cast in an unknown role.
Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer will direct what has been described as a horror film take on the Venom character, with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg writing the script.
Reportes suggest the movie will allegedly include Carnage as the main villain and according to producer Amy Pascal and Sony Pictures, Venom will be separate from the MCU, instead launching Sony's own Marvel Universe, which will also feature the upcoming Black Cat and Silver Sable film.
