New York Comic Con is a week away, which means it's time to delve into our annual preview of what we expect will be the best and most exciting happenings at the show. NYCC is always a great showcase of awesome TV shows, exciting video games, epic movies and the best of the best in comics -- and 2017 is shaping up to be no different.
We already dug into the best movies and games to look forward to at NYCC, so here is a breakdown of all the coolest TV properties we'll be spotlighting in our coverage this year:
Panel: October 7th at 5:15 p.m. ET
Marvel TV has a huge presence at New York Comic Con, from first looks at Marvel's Runaways to the return of Agents of SHIELD, but the project we’re most excited to see is Marvel’s The Punisher. With this panel running an hour and a half long, we'll hopefully get a really good look at the new series, and fingers crossed we’ll finally find out when in 2017 it’s premiering. Who knows: maybe we’ll even get a sneak peek at the first episode!
Panel: October 7th at 7:45 p.m. ET
The Walking Dead always has a huge presence at NYCC, and 2017 is no different. Season 8 is all about All Out War with Negan and the Saviors, so there’s a good chance we’ll get a sneak peek at what we can expect in October 22’s premiere. Expect a lot of reflection as well, as the Season 8 premiere marks The Walking Dead’s 100th episode.
Panel: October 7th at 5:30 p.m. ET
There’s a bunch of great new TV at NYCC in 2017, from Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams to Hulu’s Future Man to CBS All Access’s Star Trek Discovery. But the one new series we can’t wait to get our first look at is Amazon’s new take on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski and created by LOST’s Carlton Cuse. Inspired by the Harrison Ford-starring films Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, this will be the first time we (hopefully) get a sense of what this show actually looks like.
Panel: October 8th at 3 p.m. ET
2017 has been the year of Stephen King, and Castle Rock looks to be the culmination of the world he's created through his works. Castle Rock is a bit of a mystery, as it supposedly "combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland." We're more excited about seeing all the creative forces behind the series come together, as well as seeing its all-star lineup of King movie alums -- including Sissy Spacek and IT's Bill Skarsgard -- unite on the panel.
New York Comic-Con takes place from October 5th to 8th this year at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan. Tickets for New York Comic Con are valid for all four days of the show. Be sure to check back at IGN for the rest of our previews of the event, and of course for our coverage straight from the show floor once it starts!
