Newt Scamander's Brother to Appear in Fantastic Beasts 2

Theseus Scamander was first hinted at in Fantastic Beasts.

Newt Scamander's brother will reportedly make an appearance in the next Fantastic Beasts movie.

Variety reports that Green Room actor Callum Turner is in talks for the role of Newt’s brother in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is written by Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling with Fantastic Beasts director David Yates returning to helm it.

Though the report does not mention who exactly this brother is, the first Fantastic Beasts film hinted at Newt's sibling Thesus. Little else is known about how prominent a role Theseus might play in the film, but he can be found alluded to as Newt reads a letter from his brother concerning Gellert Grindelwald. Theseus, an Auror, is at one point speaking with Percival Graves during the original Fantastic Beasts film as well.

Spoilers for the original Fantastic Beasts follow.

The Fantastic Beasts sequel's cast will also include Jude Law as a younger iteration of Albus Dumbledore, as well as Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald. Gindelwald looms large over the original Fantastic Beasts as well, so find out everything you need to know about the powerful dark wizard.

Last year, Dumbledore was confirmed for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, with the film reportedly set to explore the history between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Yates revealed Dumbledore will have great scenes with Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander, but did not elaborate how big of a role Dumbledore will have in the series moving forward.

The Fantastic Beasts sequel, which is set in Paris and will reportedly “feel so different from” the first one, is currently set for a November 18, 2018 release.
