New Marvel Comic Explores Black Bolt's Origns

Learn how Blackagar Boltagon won his crown.

Marvel has revealed Inhumans: Once and Future Kings, a new comic book mini-series that aims to provide the definitive early history of the Inhuman Royal Family. The announcement came at Marvel's Retailer Panel at C2E2 today.

Once and Future Kings is also notable for marking the return of writer Christopher Priest (Black Panther, Captain America and the Falcon) to Marvel after a 12-year absence. Priest will team with artist Phil Noto (Star Wars: Poe Dameron) for the five-issue series. Each issue will also feature a two-page backup story from Ryan North (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl).

Once and Future Kings will center around a younger Black Bolt as the future king of Attilan first ends his childhood solitude and ventures into the world. The series will chronicle his courtship of Medusa, his conflict with exiled Inhuman king, The Unspoken, and Black Bolt's rivalry with his brother, Maximus.
