Insomniac's Spider-Man Game Will Reportedly Release This Year

To catch a Spidey.

Marvel Vice President, Ryan Penagos has said that Insomniac's officially undated Spider-Man game will be released this year.

In a stream (spotted and captured by Reddit user GamingSince95), Penagos says "there's [...] more on the horizon for 2017, like Spider-man coming to PlayStation 4".

There's some small cause for doubt, given that Penagos isn't directly involved with Marvel's games division. When asked for comment, Sony simply said "we don’t comment on rumour or speculation”.

Insomniac has previously only said that it was "hard at work on cool stuff to share in 2017", and has never mentioned a specific release window.

However, with Spider-man: Homecoming (another Marvel-Sony collaboration, incidentally) arriving in theaters this July, it seems apt that the game would attempt to capitalise on active interest.

IGN has contacted Insomniac and Marvel Games for comment.
