Fahrenheit 451: Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon to Star

Jordan will play Montag and Shannon will star as his mentor.

Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon have joined the cast of HBO's film adaption of Fahrenheit 451.

According to TheWrap, Jordan (Creed, Fantastic Four) will star as the lead character, a "fireman" named Montag, while Shannon (Man of Steel, Boardwalk Empire) will play his mentor Captain Beatty.

The film, based on Ray Bradbury's 1953 sci-fi novel of the same name, takes place in a dystopian reality set in a future America where books have been outlawed, and it's the job of "firemen" to burn any books they discover. After meeting a girl and seeing what books have to offer, Montag opposes Captain Beatty.

Fahrenheit 451 is co-written by Ramin Bahrani and Amir Naderi, both of whom previously worked with Shannon on 99 Homes. Shannon's performance in the drama earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

While the project is currently in development, HBO has yet to announce a release date. Bahrani will direct and executive produce, with Sarah Green of Brace Cover Productions, Michael B. Jordan, Peter Jaysen and Alan Gasmer all on board as executive producers as well.
