Destiny 2 Expansions Center Around Returning Characters

Patience and Time.

Promotional artwork for Destiny 2 may have dropped clues about the sequel's upcoming story arcs.

Bungie released details of its Collector's Edition and season pass last week, including two images related to the game's two currently planned expansions. Although the logos are text-free and give away very little, many fans of the original game will instantly recognise them as the icons associated with characters Osiris and Rasputin (or just a Warmind AI, if you're being picky).

It's only small, but the image is plenty big enough to discern the logos concerned:

The former - which is the stylised black eye sitting atop a yellow blackdrop - may intimate we'll finally learn more about the mysterious Warlock character behind Destiny's toughest PvP mode, Trials of Osiris. The latter - the diamond on the pale blue background - is usually associated with the Warmind AI, initially formed to protect against the Darkness. Russian Warmind Rasputin, in particular, has had a recurring role in the original game.

Could it be possible that one expansion will focus on Osiris, whilst the other on Rasputin? Probably, yes.

Destiny 2 is now available for pre-order and will be released on September 8, 2017. The sequel will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
