How to Turn off the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch goes into sleep mode when the power button is tapped. Here are instructions on how to turn off the Nintendo Switch completely:

• Hold down the power button that's next to the volume controls on the Switch.
• A menu appears. Select Power Options.
• Select power off to shut it down completely.

If you power down your Switch all suspended software close, so be sure to save your games before doing this. It's recommended you turn off the console if you don't plan to dock or charge it for a long period of time.

Initial reports show that the Switch's Sleep Mode is efficient in saving power, though. After leaving a fully charged Switch in sleep mode for eight hours Ars Technica found that its Switch had only lost two percent of its battery.
