The Last of Us Part II Co-Written by Westworld Writer

Writer of "Trompe L'Oeil" is involved with the new story of Joel and Ellie.

Halley Gross, a credited writer on two episodes of Westworld's first season, has been revealed as Neil Druckmann's co-writer for The Last of Us Part II.

Druckmann announced Gross' involvement in the game over the weekend on Twitter after the game was revealed earlier this weekend at PlayStation Experience 2016. Gross co-wrote the sixth and seventh episodes of Westworld's inaugural season, "The Adversary" and "Trompe L'Oeil."

"Halley's my kickass co-writer. Can't wait to share more of the story with y'all. Spoiler alert: it's intense," Druckmann wrote in response to a tweet from Gross. Druckmann is credited as the writer of the first Last of Us.

Druckmann spoke to that "intense" story over the weekend during a Last of Us Part II panel, calling it "complementary" to the first game. He described the first as a story about love, while Part II is a story "about hate." Ellie will also be the star of the game this time around.

The Last of Us Part II was unveiled during the PSX showcase, revealing the return of Joel and Ellie from Naughty Dog's 2013 The Last of Us, which won IGN's Game of the Year.
