FX’s criminally under-watched series, The Americans, managed to top its already stellar earlier seasons with a run that saw Phillip and Elizabeth mentally collapse due to the insurmountable pressures of undercover work - all while daughter Paige struggled to reconcile her family’s shattering secret.
From IGN's Review: Careful pacing combined with masterfully done sequences and beautiful character moments made for an excellent second season of AMC’s Better Call Saul - a season that saw both Saul and Mike on two very separate paths while Kim attempted to balance her own career ambitions with a sense of morality.
From IGN's Review: The first season of Game of Thrones not directly tethered to a George R. R. Martin novel proved to be an exciting and rewarding saga, filled with answers, payoffs, and punishment for the wicked. As Heroes healed, doors were held, and bastards battled, it was a glorious year of fast-pass travel, occasional loss and, at long last, a notable amount of triumph.
The fourth and final season of Rectify proved to be riveting and hauntingly moving journey - even by Rectify standards. As Daniel attempted to forge himself a "normal" life, away from his family, back home things emotionally imploded as those he left behind found themselves trying to rebuild their lives in their own right.
With stunning performances and a labyrinthine mystery at work, HBO's Westworld explored the themes of computer programming and personal manipulation as Anthony Hopkins' Dr. Ford set about creating a new, final narrative for his thriving robot-filled theme park. The mysteries kept us hooked, but the story and performances brought us online.
