Game of Thrones Reportedly Eyeing UFC's Conor McGregor

What his role in fantasy drama will be is still unknown.

UFC star Conor McGregor will reportedly appear in one of the two remaining seasons of Game of Thrones.

Although no information about the extent of McGregor's role is known, a source told Belfast-based outlet the Sunday Life, via Metro, the current UFC lightweight champion has agreed to appear at some point in the show before it ends.

"He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan," a source told the paper. "They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show."

We reached out to HBO about the report and they declined to comment.

This isn't the first time the EA Sports UFC 2 cover athlete has made Game of Thrones news. Last year, a video was released of McGregor fighting Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who plays Ser Gregor Clegane, also known as The Mountain.

Other celebrities who are Game of Thrones fans have made their way onto the show for small roles, including Coldplay drummer Will Champion as a Red Wedding drummer, Sigur Ros band members as the Purple Wedding musicians, and Mastadon band members as Wildlings in "Hardhome," so it tracks that McGregor might be brought on, most likely for a physically imposing role.
