Phil Spencer Joins Microsoft's Senior Leadership Team

Spencer calls the move a "great show of commitment" by Microsoft.

Phil Spencer has been added to Microsoft's Senior Leadership Team, a group of the company's top internal advisors, CEO Satya Nadella announced yesterday.

According to ZDNet, as part of the move, Spencer has also received a new job title; the former head of Xbox will now serve as Microsoft's executive vice president of gaming.

Spencer took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the announcement, saying it's a "great show of commitment" by Microsoft to its gaming division.

The former head of Microsoft Game Studios was promoted to head of Xbox back in 2014. He's since led Microsoft's Xbox division on the launch of the Xbox One S and the upcoming Xbox One X, which he officially unveiled on stage earlier this year at E3.

The company recently announced more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles were preordered in the first five days than any Xbox before. The upgraded Xbox One will be released on November 7.
