343 Industries exploring the possibility of altering the Motion Sensor in Halo 5: Guardians, and will run a public test next week to get player feedback about the changes.
According to the latest Halo Community Update, the public test will begin on March 9 and will run for "at least a month." During that time, 343 will "gather player feedback and metrics" too see if the new Motion Sensor "has a potential place in Halo 5 going forward as well as potential learnings and implications for future Halo FPS titles."
Halo 5's Motion Sensor has proven to be a point of contention within the competitive community, as some want it removed entirely, while others believe its a crucial part of the experience. In an effort to appeal to both sides, 343 has created a revised Motion Sensor. This new sensor's range has been increased from 18m to 25m and will will only show player activity if someone is firing a non-silenced weapon or using a Spartan ability.
A dedicated public test playlist called "Proving Grounds" will launch next Thursday so players can try out the new sensor.
Last month, 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross shed light on what is in store for future of the series, confirming that all forthcoming FPS Halo games will have split-screen multiplayer.
