Third Cloverfield Movie Gets New Release Date

Film about Earth mysteriously disappearing... mysteriously disappears.

The third installment in the "Cloverfield Universe" will arrive on October 27, 2017.

The JJ Abrams-produced God Particle, which is widely rumoured to be a follow-up to Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane, was originally dated for a February 24 release. However (as Deadline reports) God Particle has now been removed from Paramount's release schedule, while "2017 Cloverfield Movie" has appeared in the new Fall release slot.

Directed by Julius Onah, God Particle was billed as a film about the crews of two spacecraft who see the Earth seemingly disappear after an accident using the Large Hadron Collider. My guess now that it's a Cloverfield flick? It was probably aliens that did it.

The film - whatever title it turns out to be released under - will star David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki,Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd.

With the Clover-verse in full swing, the expectation is that we'll see a new film in the franchise annually from here on in.

That might be no bad thing - we called 10 Cloverfield Lane "a remarkable debut for director Dan Trachtenberg," and "no less effective in its ability to unnerve and excite" than its big found-footage sibling from 2008.
