Super Mario Run Won't Come to Nintendo Switch

Sounds like the game will stay on mobile devices.

Super Mario Run isn't planned for a release on Nintendo Switch.

Speaking to CNET, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained why the mobile game won't move to the upcoming hybrid console. "Development for Super Mario Run is different than development for Nintendo Switch," he said. "With Switch we're going to have a variety of input devices, a variety of ways for you to interact with the game."

"Here, it's all the screen. So it's a different type of development challenge. But at the core, our developers are looking to create content that you really can't get anywhere else, you can't experience anywhere else ... that's a core philosophy that's going to continue."

Fils-Aime gave a live demo of Super Mario Run on The Tonight Show this week as well. He also showed off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario Run is set to release December 15. The mobile game is created with the Unity engine.
