After directing the first two films, Dean DeBlois is returning to helm the series' third installment, which will continue the story of Hiccup and Toothless. Jay Baruchel will be back to voice Hiccup, with America Ferrera reprising her role as Astrid and Cate Blanchett returning as Valka.

Universal and DreamWorks' plot description for How to Train Your Dragon 3 follows:

As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.

This isn't the first time the film's date has been changed. How to Train Your Dragon 3 was originally planned to be released on June 17, 2016, but was pushed to June 9, 2017, a couple of years ago.
