Heroes of the Storm Director Moves Onto New Blizzard Project

Silver linings in the storm.

Dustin Browder, game director on Heroes of the Storm, has left development of the MOBA to join an unannounced project at Blizzard.

Announced on the Battle.net forum, Browder explained that he was leaving the team, and had already begun transitioning his responsibilities to former technical director Alan Dabiri.

"We sometimes get exciting chances to work on other projects," Browder explained. "I’m going to take one of those chances to try something new at Blizzard."

Browder's part of something of a trend at Blizzard in recent months. In October, World of Warcraft director Tom Chilton also stepped down to move onto a new project.

Last month, Blizzard began hiring for an unannounced first-person game, which some suspect could be a single-player component for multiplayer hit, Overwatch.

However, Blizzard told IGN that "we’re always working on different ideas behind the scenes, usually on the side or in smaller groups until we decide to move forward". It's conceivable that both Browder and Chilton are working on separate prototypes or designs.

Back when Chilton moved, we wondered whether Blizzard might be embarking on making Diablo 4 - however, the announcement of a Diablo 1 remake inside Diablo 3 (it's almost as confusing as that sounds) seems to have put paid to that, at least for now.
