Elite: Dangerous Heading to PS4 Early Next Year

To infinity!

Elite: Dangerous is coming to PlayStation 4 in Q2, 2017.

Writing via the PlayStation blog, Founder and CEO of Frontier Developments, David Braben, explains the PS4 release will be the full Elite experience as well as the Horizon series of expansions.

“When Elite Dangerous arrives on PlayStation 4 next year,” says Braben, “we’re bringing the full game with everything in our ‘Horizons’ season of expansions included, so not only can you fly your ship, but you can carry an ‘SRV’ – Surface Recon Vehicle – in your hold, and charge around the surfaces of planets and moons at up to 100mph, finding materials, attacking bases, or seeking out hidden secret things with your friends.”

Elite: Dangerous is currently available for both PC and Xbox One.

In our review of the base game, we said: “Elite: Dangerous is a beautiful game and an amazing space sim let down by a universe devoid of character and low on excitement.

“It's great to fly the various ships and experiment with different loadouts, and there are a lot of different roles to play in Elite that helps keep the experience fresh. But without any special missions or narrative threads to pick up, and a universe that seems more mechanical than alive, Elite also seems far smaller than its 400 billion star systems.”
