At TGS, Sony announced that Danganronpa V3 will also launch in 2017 in Japan and features a female protagonist for the first time in the main series. Danganronpa 3 was first revealed during last year’s TGS and previously announced for 2016 alongside an anime, which began airing earlier this year.

This is third main game in the series, following Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, which launched in February 2014 in North America on Vita, followed by Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair in September 2014. A third-person spinoff, Danganronpa: Another Episode -- Ultra Despair Girls, launched on Vita in North America in September 2015.

NIS recently announced that the first two Danganronpa games will come to PS4 in March 2017 as Danganronpa 1+2 Reload, featuring both full games. Spinoff Ultra Despair Girls is also coming to PS4 in Summer 2017.
