Crackdown 3 Aiming for Holiday 2017 "or Earlier" Release Date

Merry Christmas, Agent.

At E3 this year, Microsoft announced that Crackdown 3 had been delayed to 2017, and it now seems as though we're looking at a Holiday release.

Spotted by NeoGAF, art director Dave Johnson and executive producer Peter Connelly - appearing on an Extra Life livestream - responded to questions by saying that the game would be released by the festive period next year, "or earlier".

The pair also explained that the game will run at a 4K resolution on the upcoming Xbox Scorpio console - itself scheduled for a Holiday 2017 release next year.

Microsoft Studios put the delay down to not wanting to compromise the vision of the game, which will use Microsoft's Azure cloud servers to facilitate procedural destruction on a scale beyond the capabilities of individual consoles.

Upon release, the Xbox One and PC title will be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere scheme, giving buyers a version of the game on both platforms for the price of a single purchase.
