Amazon Developing an Animated Movie

The beloved character comes to Amazon.

Amazon Studios is reportedly developing an animated movie about pop culture icon, Emily the Strange.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dark Horse Entertainment is negotiating a deal with Amazon to produce the film. Once the deal is finalized, Emily the Strange creator Rob Reger will act as a producer, along with Dark Horse's Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.

Reger, a skateboarder who designed a variety of T-Shirts and skateboards, came up with the idea and design of Emily the Strange in the early 1990s. The character quickly took off, creating a multimillion-dollar business made up of comics, toys, fashion, and school supplies.

Dark Horse started making comics about the character in 2005, and even set up its first potential live-action film adaptation with Universal that would've had Chloe Grace Moretz start in the titular role, according to THR.

Earlier this year, Amazon also announced plans to make an exclusive The Departed series, and a Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski.
