Veep Creator Making Sci-fi Show for HBO

The pilot will film in 2018.

Veep creator Armando Ianucci's next project is a space comedy called Avenue 5.

Deadline reports HBO has ordered a pilot and picked up backup scripts for the series, which is set in the future and takes place mostly in space. Ianucci will write and executive produce Avenue 5, with the pilot expected to starting filming in London in 2018.

A release date for the first episode has not been set yet, so no word on when it'll premiere on HBO. Ianucci executive produced and was showrunner on Veep for four seasons before stepping down in 2015 for personal reasons.

The critically acclaimed Veep recently won another Emmy for Best Comedy Series. The show's upcoming seventh season will be its last. For IGN's thoughts on the Season 6 finale, read our review of "Groundbreaking.".
