Star Wars: Episode IX Finds Its New Director


Abrams will also co-write alongside Chris Terrio.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams will return to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced.

According to StarWars.com, Abrams is also on board to co-write the project alongside Chris Terrio. Episode IX will be produced by Abrams and Bad Robot, as well as Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan and Lucasfilm. "With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy," Kennedy said.

Colin Trevorrow was originally attached to direct, but due to some reported friction with Lucasfilm, the Jurassic World director was dropped from he project.
