Marvel Comics has been teasing that a major character will return in the pages of this Wednesday’s Marvel Legacy #1, and they’ve let the cat out of the bag early.
Warning: beware spoilers for Marvel Legacy #1!
Wolverine will return in the pages of Marvel Legacy #1, and not only that, he’ll have an Infinity Stone in his possession.
"Yes, Logan is back from the dead," Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told ComicBook.com, the site where the news was revealed. "After three years of a Logan-free Marvel Universe, Logan is back, claws popped and ready for action. How he came back, why he came back, and just how he came into possession of that Infinity Stone are part of a fascinating story that's going to unveil soon, and in some unusual places."
Logan was killed back during 2014’s The Death of Wolverine mini-series by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven when he was doused in liquid hot adamantium, turning him into a crude metallic statue. The statue was eventually moved to quiet cabin in the woods so Logan could finally rest.
Despite his death, the Marvel Universe has had no shortage of Wolverines. Laura Kinney aka X-23 has taken up his mantle as the All-New Wolverine. Old Man Logan came from a post-apocalyptic world to ours at the end of Secret Wars and has been featured on all the major X-Men teams. And Jimmy Hudson, son of Wolverine in the Ultimate Universe, also came to our world and is palling around with the X-Men Blue team.
The Infinity Stones are also making a comeback in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy, so seeing how Wolverine has one, this could mean he will cross paths with Star-Lord and company.
Marvel Legacy #1 goes on sale September 27. Stay tuned to IGN for all the other big shake ups that come out of that issue.
