Netflix has pulled an episode of the children's program Maya the Bee after a mother spotted what appears to be an extremely phallic drawing on the trunk of a tree in the background of an episode.
According to Variety, Chey Robinson spotted the offending graffiti and shared her displeasure on Facebook.
"Please be mindful of what your kids are watching. I did NOT edit any images whatsoever," Robinson wrote. Netflix has since pulled the episode.
The drawing definitely looks like a crude, men's room graffiti drawing of a penis. According to Variety, Netflix has yet to issue a statement or an explanation as to why the drawing is there in the first place.
Robinson believes there's "no reasons why" the drawing would be in the background of a show aimed squarely at pre-schoolers. Urban legends about phallus in the Little Mermaid cover art were attributed a frustrated artist having one last stab at his employers before he left. That turns out not to be the case, and really it's just the filthy human mind filling in the blanks of a spire that only kind-of resembles male genitalia.
In the case of the Maya the Bee mystery penis, it's pretty hard to look at it and not see hastily scribbled obscenity.
