Nintendo’s new Switch has reportedly enjoyed the best first 48 hours of sales in the Americas in the company’s history. The news comes via New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield on Twitter, following an interview with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé.
2. Fri-Sat sales for Nintendo Switch exceeded first 2-day sales in Americas for any system in Nintendo history. Next biggest was Wii.

According to Wingfield, Fils-Aimé also noted that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now Nintendo’s best-selling standalone launch game, topping Super Mario 64.
Actual figures have not been confirmed at this stage.
Today’s claims follow word overnight via GamesIndustry.biz that the Switch sold around 80,000 units in the UK across its opening weekend (reportedly double the number of Wii U consoles sold over the equivalent period).
