Superman Star Henry Cavill Joins Mission: Impossible 6

A super addition.

Henry Cavill, well known for playing Superman in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will be taking on a role in the upcoming sixth instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Director Christopher McQuarrie, who has also written the script for the sixth film, "asked" Cavill to join the cast on Instagram last night.

The accompanying caption said: "Say @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure."

After Cavill accepted, McQuarrie followed up with some caveats: "Must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?"

Cavill accepted, and told McQuarrie his "social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds." He will be joining the likes of Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner.

According to Variety, Cavill's character could be a right hand to the head of Cruise's special unit. It is unknown if Alec Baldwin will reprise his role as Alan Hunley from Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.

Last year Tom Cruise and Paramount had to resolve an issue over salary before resuming production on the film. It is currently due for release on July 27, 2018.
