Suda51 Reveals Fire Pro Wrestling Series Will Return

Coming sometime in 2017.

Spike Chunsoft has announced the long-running Fire Pro Wrestling series will return this year with Fire Pro Wrestling World.

Goichi Suda, aka Suda51, made the announcement and showed his support for the new entry via a quick video where he speaks about how the Fire Pro Wrestling series gave him his first start in the video game industry.

However, Suda51 won't be involved in the development of Fire Pro Wrestling World, saying instead he'll be "rooting for Fire Pro from the sidelines."

The new game in the series is coming to PlayStation 4 and will arrive for PC on Steam Early Access sometime in the second quarter of 2017. Fire Pro Wrestling World will retain the same customization and grappling-focused fighting system the series is known for, and will offer the ability to "customize every aspect of the match, from your wrestler to the ring itself."

There will be a variety of modes including “Deathmatch (steel cage, barbed wire or landmines), MMA rules and no-holds barred Gruesome Fighting," as well as online play that includes tournaments, leagues, and exhibition matches.

Suda51 worked on Super Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Final Bout and Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special and most recently worked on the PS4 free-to-play title Let It Die.

Suda51 recently shared his thoughts on what it's like developing for Nintendo Switch and if he has any interest in making a VR game.
