Stranger Things' David Harbour to Play Cable in Deadpool 2?

Will Jim Hopper become a time traveling mutant?

A Stranger Things star might be up to play Cable in Deadpool 2.

The Wrap reports David Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper on the popular Netflix series, has been screen-tested by Fox for the role.

Several actors have been rumored to play the time traveling mutant and son of Cyclops. Most recently, Cable and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld championed Russell Crowe to play Cable on Twitter a few days ago. Crowe retweeted a piece of fan art depicting him as the character to Liefeld, saying, "Hmmm... @robertliefeld thoughts?"

Deadpool 2 writer Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese spoke about how they're approaching Cable in the sequel, and why it is important to simplify his "convoluted origin." Former Deadpool 2 director Tim Miller reportedly wanted to cast Bloodline star Kyle Chandler in the role. But, Ryan Reynolds disagreed with the casting choice, which reportedly forced Miller to leave the project.

Deadpool 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but John Wick director David Leitch will now helm the film.
