Sleight Director J.D. Dillard In Talks for The Fly Remake

A remake of a remake.

Fox is working on a remake of the classic horror film The Fly.

Deadline reports Sleight director J.D. Dilliard is in early talks with the studio to direct and co-write the remake with his writing partner Alex Theurer.

Dilliard made waves last year at Sundance with his directorial debut Sleight, a thriller about a young street magician who turns to selling drugs to take care of his little sister. Jason Blum’s Blumhouse acquired the film, which opens in theaters on April 28.

The Fly tells the story of a scientist who slowly beings to transform into a fly-hybrid creature after one of his experiments goes wrong. The project will be based on David Cronenberg’s 1986 version starring Jeff Goldblum, which itself was a remake of the 1958 original directed by Kurt Neumann. It was followed by sequels Return of the Fly (1959) and Curse of the Fly (1965).
